Masking Task Interview questions:
What is Masking Task in Informatica Cloud IICS?
We use masking tasks to mask the sensitive fields in source data with realistic test data for non-production environments.
What are types of source and target connections can be used in Masking Task?
Masking Task will accept only source and target as Salesforce Connections only.
What is Masking Rule in Informatica Cloud IICS?
A data masking rule is a type of masking that you can apply to a selected field. You can select built-in rules for masking fields such as Social Security numbers, credit card numbers, phone numbers, and dates.
Can you give some examples of Masking Rules in Informatica Cloud IICS?
Examples of Masking Rules as below.
- Random Numeric
- Random String
PowerCenter Task Interview questions:
What is PowerCenter Task in Informatica Cloud IICS?
- We will use PowerCenter task to Import a PowerCenter workflow so you can run it as a Cloud Data Integration task.
- To run a PowerCenter session in Data Integration, you create a workflow for the session in the PowerCenter Workflow Manager. You create a PowerCenter task in IICS. When you configure the task, you upload the PowerCenter XML file that contains the workflow.
Can we make any changes in for a workflow XML file in PowerCenter task in IICS?
No. If you want to make any changes to a session that is used in a PowerCenter task, you need to make the changes in PowerCenter. You can export the revised PowerCenter XML file and then edit the PowerCenter task to upload the updated XML file.
Can you give some rules while use PowerCenter task?
- The PowerCenter XML file must only contain one workflow.
- The workflow must contain one Session task with one mapping.
- The workflow cannot include task types other than Session tasks like command, email or etc.
- Do not edit the XML file after you’ve exported the workflow from PowerCenter. instead, change the workflow in PowerCenter and then export it again.
Dynamic Mapping Task Interview questions:
What is Dynamic Mapping Task in Informatica Cloud IICS?
- We will use Dynamic Mapping Task to Configure and run multiple data pipeline jobs from one mapping
- Use a dynamic mapping task to create and batch multiple jobs based on the same mapping. That means, you can create a Fully parameterized generic mapping and reuse the same in Dynamic task to Read the data and load to different tables.
What are Default and local scope in Dynamic Mapping Task?
Interview Questions on Components in Informatica Cloud IICS:
What are the Components available in Informatica Cloud IICS?
The below are the list of components available in IICS
- Business Services
- Saved Query
- Hierarchical Schema
- Fixed width format
- Shared sequence.
- File Listener.
- User Defined functions
What is Saved query in Informatica Cloud IICS?
A saved query is a component that you create to run SQL statements against a database. You can use a saved query as the source object in a synchronization task or as the query in an SQL transformation.
To use a saved query in a synchronization task or SQL transformation, First create the saved query component. Then when you configure the SQL transformation or synchronization task in a mapping, you select the saved query to use.
What are the disadvantages of Saved query in Informatica Cloud IICS?
- You can use aggregate functions such as COUNT with Salesforce connections only.
- We cannot use conversion functions, such as TO_CHAR or TO_DATE.
- We cannot use an asterisk (*) to select all columns of a table. List the columns that you want to select.
What is Hierarchical Schema in Informatica Cloud IICS?
A hierarchical schema is an asset that is based on a schema file or sample JSON file that you import into Data Integration.
It is used to upload an XSD file (XML Schema) or an XML or Json sample file to use with a Hierarchy Transformation.
What is the limitation of Hierarchical Schema in Informatica Cloud IICS?
The hierarchical schema supports XSD schemas with up to 10,000 elements. To process an XSD schema that contains more than 10,000 elements, split the data into two hierarchical schemas.
What is Shared sequence in Informatica Cloud IICS?
- Shared sequence is used to create a reusable sequence to use in multiple Sequence Generator transformations.
- When you use a shared sequence, the Sequence Generator transformation uses the properties of the shared sequence to generate values.
- Use a shared sequence when you want to assign numeric values within the same sequence to data in multiple mapping tasks.
Interview questions on Source Transformation in Informatica Cloud IICS:
What is source transformation in Informatica Cloud IICS?
A Source transformation is an active & connected Transformation that can reads and extracts data from a source file or a table based on the source connection you specify.
Source transformation can read the data from single source table or multiple source tables.
What are the source types you can see in Source transformation when source is a table in Informatica Cloud IICS?
We can see the below types of sources
- Single object : A single Table can be selected as a source.
- Multiple objects : Two or more homogeneous tables can be selected as sources.
- Query : Write any simple or Complex query use that as your source.
- Parameter : we can parametrize the source table name in mapping and pass the Value through the MCT.
What are the query options you can see under Source transformation when source is a table in Informatica Cloud IICS?
The below options are available under source transformation in IICS
- Filter : can write simple or advanced filter the data from source table
- Sort : can sort from one or more columns from the source table
- Select distinct only : can select only unique records from the source table.
What are options it will not show when you select Query option in Source Transformation in Informatica Cloud IICS?
Filter, Sort and select Distinct options will not show when you select Query option in source transformation.
Can we use SQL Override when we Select Query option in Source Transformation in Informatica Cloud IICS?
Yes
Can we validate the SQL query written under customer query?
No, we cannot validate the SQL query in source transformation, we have validated the query in Database only.
What are the join types supported by Custom relationship in Informatica cloud IICS?
Custom Query supports Inner join, Left outer join and Right outer join.
What are the Partitioning methods supported in Informatica Cloud IICS?
The below are the two partitioning methods support by Informatica Cloud IICS.
- Key Range Partitioning : is used for source tables.
- Fixed Partitioning : is used for flat file source.
What are the source types you can see in Source transformation when source is a File in Informatica Cloud IICS?
- Single Object : A single flat file can be selected as source.
- File List : We can pass list file which contains full path of all the source file which are having same structure , also called Indirect file method in IICS.
- Command : We can pass a windows or UNIX script file as input which passes the Source file name.
- Parameter : We can parametrize the source File name in mapping and pass the Value through MCT.
What is File list or What is indirect file loading in Informatica Cloud IICS?
- When we have multiple sources with the same structure, we can load these files at a time by using File list method.
- Create a list file and write complete file path of all the flat files with same structure, select object type as File list and use this List file as a flat file.
- The data from all the files listed in the source file will be processed in a single run.
What are options it will not show when you select source file in Source Transformation in Informatica Cloud IICS?
You can’t see Filter, Sort and select Distinct and also you cannot see advanced properties like Pre-SQL, Post-SQL, SQL Query override options will not show when you source as a fiat file.
HI RAJ,
I just gone through all the interview questions they are simply super i understand your Hardwork behind them. May I know, Will you add questions on other transformations as well ? and also please add Scenario based questions.. So that it will be really helpful while attending interviews.
ThankYou.
